Does Medicare Cover Long-Term Care?

In most cases, Medicare does not cover long-term care. While there are some exceptions, Medicare typically covers doctor visits, prescription medications, and hospital stays. If you are over the age of 65 or are receiving social security benefits, you are eligible for Medicare.

Am I Eligible for Long-Term Care from Medicaid?

In order to be eligible for Medicaid, you must live in a household that is considered low income. You must also reside in the state of New York, be in need of health care assistance, and be a U.S. national, citizen, or have satisfactory immigration status. If you meet these requirements, you may be eligible for a Medicaid plan that will cover the cost of your in-home care. At Ultra Care Family Wellness, we can help you determine your eligibility and assist you in enrollment.

How Do I Choose a Long-Term Care Plan?

New York State Medicare offers three plan choices for Managed long-term Care. Their options included the MLTC Medicaid Plan, the Medicaid Advantage Plus Plan, and the Program for All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE). You can find more information about these plans, how to apply, and how they work from the NY Department of Health. Our professional, experienced staff at Ultra Care Family Wellness would also be happy to help.
